Steps to reproduce:
1. Installed Gimp 2.7 from http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=121075 - build from May 7, 2009
2. Start GIMP 2.7, open new or existing image
3. Select Font Tool
4. click on image to begin typing. Gimp crashes
5. Error dialog box appears: "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime library" - this application requested the runtime to terminate in an unusual way"
6. GIMP output shows the following text: "Pango:ERROR:pangowin32.c:838:pango_win32_font_finalize: assertion failed: (win32font->fontmap != NULL)

If you insist on working with an unstable development release, then please build it with debugging symbols and provide a proper stack trace. This bug report is not in any way useful without a stack trace.
