Please describe the problem:
When I open a big PDF file with many pages it will take some time before the page is loaded.
Also the CPU usage is very high (CPU one is getting 100%) by opening big PDF files.

I use Ubuntu 9.04 but also had this problem with earlier versions of Ubuntu.
Evince Document Viewer 2.26.1.

Could you attach here or provide a link to one of those big PDF files, please? How long is 'some time'?

I have this problem with all the big PDF files.
I don't have a large PDF file at the moment but you can find many large PDF files with Google.
It takes at least 10 times longer than Adobe Acrobat reader on a slow (older hardware) Vista pc.

If you cannot attach or give a link to a big PDF and describe what goes wrong on it, I'm afraid we can't reproduce this bug. :-/

Maybe you can provide at least a link (URL) to a big PDF ?

I haven't the problem anymore since I use Ubuntu 9.10.
