Gnome network settings (proxy) now provides a location selector. This is really useful when you move a lot with your laptop and you have different proxy settings at each location.

I believe location switching could be automated though by allowing the user to select a location in a network profile, using network-manager-gnome. This way, when I'm connected to my network at work, it will automatically adapt my proxy settings (and same thing when I come back home).
