GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 583431
network manager applet should allow the user to select a location
Last modified: 2015-01-27 17:23:05 UTC
Gnome network settings (proxy) now provides a location selector. This is really useful when you move a lot with your laptop and you have different proxy settings at each location. I believe location switching could be automated though by allowing the user to select a location in a network profile, using network-manager-gnome. This way, when I'm connected to my network at work, it will automatically adapt my proxy settings (and same thing when I come back home).
Apparently, I'm not the only one who is requesting this feature: https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/better-integrate-proxy-settings-with-network-manager http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/5327/
Still on the todo list, but closing as duplicate.... *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 621767 ***
