GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 583393
updated French translation
Last modified: 2009-05-22 17:11:22 UTC
I found the fr.po file in git master to be unsatisfactory, so I updated it with pitivi.pot, translated some new strings, and corrected one of the existing ones (the "boutons ci-dessous" one was outdated and did not make sense).
Created attachment 135058 [details] [review] French translation Please review. I left some strings as fuzzy because I was not sure they made complete sense in the way I translated them.
please get in touch with the gnome translation project (http://live.gnome.org/TranslationProject) who are in charge of translations for pitivi.
Jean-François, I already committed a new updated translation file this afternoon (I was not aware of this bug report). I uploaded your file on l10n.gnome.org, so we can compare both files with a nice diff: http://l10n.gnome.org/vertimus/pitivi/master/po/fr http://l10n.gnome.org/vertimus/diff/15893/0 Apart from the "ci-dessous" -> "ci-dessus" fix, do you have other fixes you'd want to keep in your file? I choosed to translate "timeline" with "table de montage". Do you find it appropriate? Next time, you're welcome to upload your translation directly on l10n.gnome.org.
It seems good to me. I did not know the term "table de montage", if that's indeed the specialized term used in the French video editing lexicon, then why not :) Regarding some strings such as "Ajouter chaque MEDIA_FILE à la ligne de temps après l'importation." vs "Ajoute chaque FICHIER_MULTIMÉDIA à la table de montage après l'importation." Are you sure about the MEDIA_FILE thing? At least when translating, I left those all-caps things untranslated because I thought they were some kind of variable name and that they would be processed and replaced by python. If it's not the case, go ahead then. I dare say that your translation "Il reste environ %s" is much more clever than mine :) Thanks for your great work! About uploading directly to l10n.gnome.org: I didn't see an upload form, so I assume I need to have a gnome account, which I don't... Filing a bug was the easiest thing I could do :)

If it's > not the case, go ahead then. I think it simply refers to the usage help: %prog [-p PROJECT_FILE] [-a] [MEDIA_FILE]... > I dare say that your translation "Il reste environ %s" is much more clever than > mine :) > > Thanks for your great work! > > About uploading directly to l10n.gnome.org: I didn't see an upload form, so I > assume I need to have a gnome account, which I don't... Filing a bug was the > easiest thing I could do :) You can create an account yourself on l10n.gnome.org and join the French team. This is not related with the global GNOME accounts infrastructure. I'm keeping the bug report open until the "ci-dessus" fix is committed (along with two other l10n reported bugs which should be shortly fixed).
