Description Felix Oghina 2009-05-10 18:12:07 UTC
When using compositing (/apps/metacity/general/compositing_manager=true), there should be an option (maybe another key?) to use the old, non-compositing application switcher.

Other information:
I have compositing turned on and it's very fast and nice, except for the application switcher. If I have a few windows on a desktop (6-7) and press Alt+Tab, it can take up to 20-30 seconds for the switcher to show up (well, my RAM is full and I am ~300MB in the swap partition), probably because it takes time to thumbnail all the windows, because the next time I press Alt+Tab it only takes 2-3 seconds, although that is still pretty much. I'm sure that if there was a way to use the 'normal' switcher it would be much faster.

+1. I am loving the compsiting feature, but hating the app switcher. It takes way too long, and its hard to see which app I'm looking for with everything so big and oversized. What was wrong with the default app switcher?

Since 3.12.0 metacity does not use window thumbnails in alt-tab. In 3.16 there will be option to turn on thumbnails from settings.
