GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 579601
Preferences - Editor - Misc - Tab width allows only 4 or 1
Last modified: 2009-06-17 19:56:21 UTC
Please describe the problem: If I try to set this value to any other value (I'd prefer 8, which is the historial default value for tab width), the UI forces value to "1". Steps to reproduce: 1. Select two files to compare (I had to .ini files) 2. Select Edit - Preferences - Editor 3. Change Tab width under the Misc subheader to "8" 4. Click "Close" Actual results: Tab width is set to 1 and the editor is updated to show the results Expected results: Tab width is set to 8 and the editor is updated to show the results Does this happen every time? Yes Other information: The default value for setting Preferences - Editor - Misc - Tab width seems to be "4". If I have any other value (for example, if I set it to 8 via gconf-editor), opening the Preferences dialog at all always resets the value to "1". I'd prefer this setting to work correctly, but at least it should not reset the value I've set previously. Clicking the up-arrow next to the input in the preferences dialog does not increase the value. $ dpkg-query --show meld meld 1.2-0ubuntu1
Could you please try with svn trunk or the brand new 1.3.0 ? http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/gnome/sources/meld/1.3 I cannot reproduce with the latest codebase...
I can confirm that this bug is fixed in 1.3. It's a shame that the default tab width doesn't match the rest of Linux/Unix though :-(
