GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 579587
nautilus 2.26.2 compact view or icon view at 150% or more not correct for folders with few items
Last modified: 2009-04-21 20:34:31 UTC
Please describe the problem: The file and folder view in nautilus is not correct in nautilus 2.26.2. If there are only few files or folders present and the view is 150% or more than the view switches to blank portion on the right where there are no items present. This happens in compact view. Even in icon view you find a horizontal (bottom) scrollbar even though it is not needed. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open Nautilus (2.26.2) in compact or icon view 2. Go to a folder where there are few items, (i.e.) not exceeding 2 colums) 3. Now increase the zoom size to 150% or more Actual results: In compact view the view now pans to the right and the beginning of the files with long names will not be visible and in the case of short named files the files itself will not be visible. In icon view a scrollbar appears at the bottom and you can scroll to the right needlessly in the empty area Expected results: The view to start at the beginning (left) at the column and not at the end (right) of the column Also if you would like to rename a file with a short name and choose rename on the menu and if you have a file with a very long name in the same column then the file will be visible only after you readjust your settings. E.g. Let one file name be 'We can go for a vacation together to the Carribean this winter and enjoy the delights of the carribean and then come back' Let the next one be named 'wecango'. Now try renaming 'wecango'. This problem is present at 100% view also Does this happen every time? Yes Other information: The problem is even more in the case of folders having only one column of items
