GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 579227
error when dnding some bookmarks from firefox to nautilus
Last modified: 2011-09-23 10:30:33 UTC
the bug has been opened on https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/349632 "I like to save bookmarks to shortcut files on my desktop. Usually, I can drag the icon from the left of the address bar to my desktop, and it will create a link on the desktop that points to that URL. Sometimes this works, and sometimes it doesn't. Example URL's that DO work: http://lwn.net/Articles/320446/ http://sillyliquifytrick.blogspot.com/2008/12/how-about-that.html Example URL's that DO NOT work: http://lifehacker.com/5113886/top-10-ways-to-lock-down-your-data http://www.laptopmag.com/review/laptops/asus-eee-pc-1000he.aspx When I drag these icons to the desktop, I get a pop-up box that says: Error while copying. There was an error getting information about "asus-eee-pc-1000he.aspx". v Show more details HTTP Error: Message Corrupt ... The lifehacker.com-url works as expected, but I get "HTTP Error: Connection terminated unexpectedly" with the laptopmag.com-url. So it is a little different from yours, but still quite similar."
Don't seem to have this problem in Ubuntu 9.04.
I need more information here. Could you please attach a full log of the client <--> server talk, by setting the GVFS_HTTP_DEBUG env variable to "all": export GVFS_HTTP_DEBUG="all" and then restarting the gvfs daemon with /usr/libexec/gvfs/gvfsd --replace [on fedora] or /usr/lib/gvfs/gvfsd --replace [on ubuntu] Please attach the log here. Thanks a bunch in advance!
The behavior in Ubuntu 11.04 with Firefox 4 is that the full file is being copied. Who would want that?
any news for this report?
Where is the log file generated, please?
Shahar Or, i think you will have to export variable and start gvfsd as mentioned in comment2 on gnome-terminal and then paste logs which you get on terminal.
Closing this bug report as no further information has been provided. Please feel free to reopen this bug if you can provide the information asked for. Thanks!
I'll try this when I get a hold of a Gnome 3.x system. There's not much point in trying this in 2.x.
