GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 575402
Evolution: "Contact Editor": Add a "show map" link to the "Mailing Address" entries.
Last modified: 2009-03-15 14:59:28 UTC
When the user has an address against a contact, it could be handy to see a map of that address in a web browser with a single click and no typing. Could there be a link that the user could click, next to each work/home/other address that the user has entered, which would open the address in the default web browser? I'd like to use OpenStreetMap as the default maps site because of their open-ness, but their search seems pretty bad (it kept showing the wrong address). Maybe Google maps as the default (which seems pretty reliable), with others to be added later? Example link to Google maps is: http://maps.google.com/?q=1%20Ross%20St,+Forest%20Lodge,+2037,+NSW,+Australia ; i.e. generic URL format, as it relates to Evolution contacts, is: http://maps.google.com/?q=<street address>,+<city>,+<ZIP code/postcode>,+<State/province>,+<Country> , where all the things in brackets are HTML-escaped (e.g. spaces converted into %20 ).
