Description David Meier 2009-01-31 16:32:02 UTC
The artist list of the browser seems not to look for artists listed in "albumartist" tags it applies to files that are "part of a compilation".
This tag seems to be TPE2 for ID3v2 and a comment called "albumartist" for Vorbis.

It also does not look at the Conductor tag, which is TPE3(?) / "conductor".

IMO, both tags ought to be evaluated for the artist list. Maybe TCOM / "composer" ought to be included too.

If this makes the artist list too long and confusing, the user should be given the possibility to choose which extra tags to include. This might be done using a selector similar to the one for activating columns in the browser.

Hey Ravi, thanks for your work on this! However, I don't think your patch for bug 730496 would fix this issue because in Banshee we mainly use taglib-sharp for parsing file's tags, not GStreamer (we use GStreamer just for playback).

Thanks

Banshee is not under active development anymore and had its last code changes more than three years ago. Its codebase has been archived.

Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping to reflect
reality. Please feel free to reopen this ticket (or rather transfer the project
to GNOME Gitlab, as GNOME Bugzilla is being shut down) if anyone takes the
responsibility for active development again.
See https://gitlab.gnome.org/Infrastructure/Infrastructure/issues/264 for more info.
