GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 568585
Youtube Plugin, with button to save videos in the multimedia collection
Last modified: 2020-03-17 08:25:57 UTC
The idea is to add a totem-like plugin to browse youtube videos, but with a specific feature "save video in my collection" which will copy the video inside the multimedia folder and add it in the video collection. Video informations will be stored in the database as well, after reading the title from youtube, to provide a rich organized collection. (youtube title -> video title; youtube user -> video author; youtube url -> video comment) In that way it will be possible to have a local collection of the favorite youtube videos organized and browsable with banshee. I guess this will enlarge the number of users and at the same time will make banshee a general multimedia audio/video player than a rich audio player with video support.
It seems Banshee is going to be an Miro alternative :) .
YouTube extension is now in git master. Anyone is up to adding the import function to it?
Banshee is not under active development anymore and had its last code changes more than three years ago. Its codebase has been archived. Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping to reflect reality. Please feel free to reopen this ticket (or rather transfer the project to GNOME Gitlab, as GNOME Bugzilla is being shut down) if anyone takes the responsibility for active development again.
