GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 567998
GIMP should submit an entry to the Windows File Association list
Last modified: 2018-05-24 12:29:56 UTC
Gimp should submit an entry to the Windows File Association list (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929149). If a user clicks a document in a format that their machine doesn't support, Windows sends them to shell.windows.com which lists possible applications that can open that format of document. Gimp should be on that list for all formats it supports -- .jpg format files, for example, are currently listed as being supported by Photoshop and Irfanview but not Gimp (http://shell.windows.com/fileassoc/0409/xml/redir.asp?ext=jpg). A good chance for evangelism!
Given that many does support many of the common file formats - are there building blocks for this somewhere - e.g. forms that have everything filled in for e.g. JPEG and PNG and do only require the information that's specific for an application?
Is this possibly a duplicate of bug #382683 or can these two enhancement requests at least be handled together?
No these bugs are about different things.
