Description Andres Mujica 2009-01-11 21:05:09 UTC
Please describe the problem:
When you take a photo after the 3-2-1 countdown the flash (white screen) remains without vanishing as expected.

If you use the space bar instead of the mouse this behaviour doesn't happen.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open cheese
2. Take a photo making click with the mouse and the flash stays
3. Take a photo making click with the space bar and the flash dissapeared

Actual results:
The white screen that simulates a camara flash doesn't vanishes after a while as expected

Expected results:
Flash must dissapear

Does this happen every time?
yes

Other information:
Hi, i'm creating this bug from Launchpad Bug #297890

https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cheese/+bug/297890

I've looked around but didn't find any previously reported bug like this.

Please let me know how can be this completely triaged.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Andre, thanks for forwarding us the bug.
This issue has already been reported but the original reporter didn't provide the informations I requested. Would you mind pointing the reporters to the original bug?
Particularly, there is a patch there that improves a little bit flash debugging.
I need someone to reproduce the bug launching "cheese -v" with that patch applied. Then attach the log produced in the other bug.
Another useful information would be to know if the bug can be reproduced both with compositor enabled and disabled (compiz, metacity+compositor, plain metacity?)
Thanks!

Can somebody reproduce the behavior that triggering the shot with the mouse produces the bug but triggering with the space bar does not? probably this is an important detail which helps solving this.

I have not been able to reproduce the bug but on my machine (metacity, plain I think).
