GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 566530
totem-mozilla doesn't work when the URL has whitespace chars
Last modified: 2009-03-23 21:40:33 UTC
From Launchpad (confirmed for another user): https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/313686 When the URL has whitespace chars, the totem-mozilla plugin doesn't work. For example, try going to the following web page: http://www.gameprotv.com/the-conduit-video-5532.html The URL of the embedded video is: http://videos.gameprotv.com/videos/The_Conduit/The Conduit Avance 592x336.wmv (notice the blanks). The video can't be played. However, try the following: http://www.gameprotv.com/mando-de-nintendo-revolution-video-1413.html The URL of the embedded video is: http://videos.gameprotv.com/videos/Mando_de_Nintendo_Revolution/GPTV_Mando_Nintendo_Revolution.wmv (without blanks). This time, the video is played perfectly.
A comment from another user via Launchpad: I can confirm this. Not sure though if whitespaces are actually legal. Like " and so on. I think there is a rfc or so that explains that a whitespace should be %20 iirc. If I try to open http://videos.gameprotv.com/videos/The_Conduit/The%20Conduit%20Avance%20592x336.wmv it works. So maybe this is a firefox or firefox plugin issue, because it does not convert whitespaces into %20. Thanks!
** Message: Error: "http://videos.gameprotv.com/videos/The_Conduit/The Conduit Avance 592x336.wmv": Not Found gstsouphttpsrc.c(904): gst_soup_http_src_parse_status (): /GstPlayBin:play/GstSoupHTTPSrc:source: 404 Not Found Dan tells me it could be worked around in libsoup, so moving there.
