GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 566472
Playlist is not properly transfered to MTP Device
Last modified: 2009-07-07 17:16:39 UTC
Please describe the problem: I can drag and drop a playlist from my local library to a media device. It will then transfer all the songs in the playlist as expected however, it does not create a new playlist on the device and populate it. Steps to reproduce: 1. Attach MTP Device 2. Drag and drop a playlist that you have already created in your library. 3. Eject device and check for playlist on the device Actual results: Songs transfer BUT there is no playlist created and populated Expected results: A new playlist is created and populated. Does this happen every time? yes Other information: I have tried this with both a Creative Zen Vision:M and a Creative Zen V Plus. Behaviour is the same on both.
Same bug occurred to me last night (09 Feb 2008) using Banshee 1.4.2 with a 30gb 5th Gen Ipod, firmware version 1.3 (iirc). Ubuntu 8.10. Steps: 1) A playlist containing approximately 169 songs was created in Banshee. 2) Playlist was dragged & dropped onto ipod icon. All songs in the playlist were transferred to the ipod, but the playlist itself was not. 3) Ipod was searched via banshee to identify all songs present. All songs were selected from the search results and a new playlist was created for them using the context menu. Playlist was renamed. 4) Ipod ejected (both through Banshee and in subsequent attempts also through Ubuntu desktop). Songs present on ipod; no playlist on ipod. 5) Banshee closed & restarted. Ipod reconnected. Subsequent attempts followed steps #3-#5 without success.
This bug should be examined for possible merger with bug 551604 "copying a playlist to a DAP device should transfer the playlist as well as the contents". The issue may be related; also my previous comments likely fall better under the "DAP device" than the "MTP" device.
In March, bug #551604 was marked as "general" because it is not specific to the iPod, so I would agree that this bug be marked as a duplicate of 551604. Could someone with the appropriate powers please do that?
Thanks for the bug report. This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but please feel free to report any further bugs you find. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 551604 ***
