GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 564938
Restore from older backup version doesn't complete
Last modified: 2009-08-26 07:01:20 UTC
I am using a backup file from Evolution under Ubuntu 8.04. I don't know the evolution version because I no longer have access to that machine, but it was up to date as of Oct 30, 2008 when the backup was made. I am attempting to restore that backup file to Evolution 2.24.2 under Ubuntu 8.10. I get a progress dialog with messges about uncompressing data and then a smaller dialog pops up but doesn't remain long enough for me to read as Evolution exits at that point. Each subsequent start of Evolution returns to the small dialog flash on the screen and then Evolution exits. Through repeated tries I can make out some of the message about the "message summary" needing to be migrated to SQLite. I checked the restore box during the "New Account Setup" process. I don't know if it's repeatable because I don't know how to stop the present behavior and get back to the "New Account Setup"
A first step might be to start evolution from the command line (in a terminal) like this: evolution 2>&1 | tee 564938.log and see what that tells. Please add that log to this report (if long: as an attachment).
I got the following messsages: evolution-shell-Message: Killing old version of evolution-data-server... (evolution:25930): camel-WARNING **: camel_exception_get_id called with NULL par ameter. (evolution:25930): camel-WARNING **: Cannot load summary file: '/home/rscott/.ev olution/mail/local/Outbox.ev-summary': No such file or directory GLib-ERROR **: /build/buildd/glib2.0-2.18.2/glib/gmem.c:136: failed to allocate 4024105204 bytes aborting... I also tried issuing an evolution --force-shutdown command and then reissuing the above command. The results were the same.
Please see the progress in bug 559153. I guess we can mark this bug a dupe of other one.
