Description Matthias Clasen 2008-12-14 02:34:19 UTC
With bug 561494, the filechooser now treats mountable network locations like directories, ie they are mounted when you click on them, and the file list displays the content of the mounted location. It would be good if these mountable locations would appear visually more similar to directories in the file list, so that it is more obvious that they can be traversed by clicking on them.

Icons are inherited from GIO/GVFS, there's no case when a simple directory icon would be displayed while browsing network.

Network machines have either "network-workgroup" or "network-server" icons while mountable shares have "folder-remote" icon (which is the same as used for bookmarks in the Places list).

But I agree a simple embleb can be added to emphasise a "virtual subfolder".

I'm not 100% sure what you are suggesting here Matthias (possibly as the bug is so old). I assume this is about the icons used for network bookmarks in the places sidebar going off whats in bug 561494.

Since 3.9.0 filechooser now shares the new GtkPlacesSidebar with Nautilus I would assume the icons used are suitable and this bug is possibly obsolete?
