GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 561462
The desktop isn't refreshed for modified hidden files
Last modified: 2013-08-05 13:59:46 UTC
Please describe the problem: When we change a file name for adding or removing a dot or when we copy/paste an hidden file, the desktop isn't refreshed. Steps to reproduce: Two ways to reproduce the bug. The first way: 1. Open Nautilus in $HOME 2. Go to "Display" and click "Show Hidden Files" 4. Make a backup of an hidden folder, for example copy .mozilla, change the emplacement for $HOME/Desktop/ and paste the folder. 5. Remove the dot in the name of the folder .mozilla. At this moment, we have $HOME/Desktop/mozilla in Nautilus, but click in the "Show Desktop" button in the Gnome panel and we don't see the mozilla folder, even if we click on "Reload" in Nautilus. The second way: 1. In the desktop, create the folder salut 2. Change its name in adding a dot: .salut At this moment, we have the folder $HOME/Desktop/.salut but it's visible even if it's an hidden folder. I just can't hidden it. Actual results: Expected results: The desktop should be refreshed. If we paste ".folder" in the desktop and we rename it for "folder", we should view "folder" in the desktop. If we rename "file" for ".file", we shouldn't view ".file" on the desktop. Does this happen every time? Yes. Other information:
