GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 561108
some albums are not imported in music library
Last modified: 2020-03-17 08:31:15 UTC
Some albums are not imported into music library. If I import manually (media - import media) they appear with "unknown artist" and "unknown album". All id3-tags exists if I watch these files with EasyTag, ex falso or cowbell. I have no idea what the difference between these files and the working ones (which are a few thousands) is... This is the error-message on the console: [Warn 22:07:38.440] Caught an exception - Object reference not set to an instance of an object (in `Banshee.Core') at Banshee.Streaming.StreamTagger.TrackInfoMerge (Banshee.Collection.TrackInfo track, TagLib.File file, Boolean preferTrackInfo) [0x00000] at Banshee.Streaming.StreamTagger.TrackInfoMerge (Banshee.Collection.TrackInfo track, TagLib.File file) [0x00000] at Banshee.Collection.TrackSyncPipelineElement.ProcessItem (System.String file_path) [0x00000]
Can you run banshee with --debug (banshee-1 --debug or banshee --debug) and try importing again? That will get us a trace with line numbers. Thanks!
I'm sorry, there is no error on the console if I only import this specific album, it simply gets imported. You can download an example at <a href="http://pits.fust-buetschwil.ch/once.mp3">http://pits.fust-buetschwil.ch/once.mp3</a> if you want to try the import for yourself...
The problem seems to be the handling of id3 v2.4 - files. If I save all my music with id3 v2.3 there is no problem with importing...

Banshee is not under active development anymore and had its last code changes more than three years ago. Its codebase has been archived. Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping to reflect reality. Please feel free to reopen this ticket (or rather transfer the project to GNOME Gitlab, as GNOME Bugzilla is being shut down) if anyone takes the responsibility for active development again. See https://gitlab.gnome.org/Infrastructure/Infrastructure/issues/264 for more info.
