GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 555267
Opening PTP camera in Nautilus before it's ready causes error
Last modified: 2015-06-07 21:53:22 UTC
Please describe the problem: Firstly, I'm really glad to see PTP camera access in Nautilus since opening F-Spot to access one photo is a real pain. Unfortunately, I've found a bug: If I plug in my PTP camera (Nikon coolpix S210) and attempt to open it immediately in Nautilus then Nautilus gives an error and the camera is then unusable until I unplug it and plug it in again. Steps to reproduce: 1. Plug in Nikon S210 2. Immediately go to Places > Removable Media > Nikon S210 Actual results: Nautilus gives an error and the camera is then unusable until I unplug it and plug it in again. The error is "Unable to mount Nikon Corp. NIKON DSC COOLPIX S210-PTP Error initialising camera: -60: Could not lock the device" Expected results: I'd expect: - the camera to be managed so that nautilus can open it as soon as it appears in the drive list - if there must be an error for it not to be fatal to accessing the device - dialog to appear quickly. Does this happen every time? Yes Other information: If I wait for a minute after plugging it in without doing anything (longer than I'd expect) then the "What would you like to do with the device" message appears and selecting to browse it with nautilus succeeds. I'm guessing that the "What would you like" app locks the device and nautilus can't access it, then the "what would you like" app fails due to nautilus' intervention. Is this still an issue?
