Ogg file whose tags I tried to change (100.00 KB, application/ogg)

Details

Description Reuben Thomas 2008-09-29 17:06:55 UTC
Please describe the problem:
Editing the tags of some oggs ripped with grip/oggenc, I tried to change the name of an album, all of whose tracks were ripped at the same time. Unfortunately, rhythmbox changed the name of the album in some tracks but not others, so I ended up with two partial albums.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Select an album
2. Select all the tracks
3. Properties->Edit tags->Change the name of the album

Actual results:
Some of the tracks have their album tag changed

Expected results:
All of the tracks should have their album tag changed

Does this happen every time?
Only on some albums

Other information:
Using 0.11.5 as supplied with Ubuntu hardy, and ripping oggs with version of grip &c. supplied in same distro.

If tag editing always fails for some particular files, please attach the first 100kb of one such file. If not.. output from 'rhythmbox -D metadata' might help?

Ogg file whose tags I tried to change
Comment 3 Reuben Thomas 2008-09-30 21:01:46 UTC
In the attached file, I tried to change the word "Oedipus" in the album title to "Œdipus", which worked in some other tracks of the same album.
Comment 4 Reuben Thomas 2008-09-30 21:20:30 UTC
As suggested, I've tried running rhythmbox -D metadata. I then tried the same as before to change the album tag of all the tracks in the album. This time a different one succeeded. The only obvious thing is that the track in question (track 6) was mentioned first in the debug log. The other thing is that after restarting rhythmbox none of the tags had in fact been changed, even in that one track.

This is an ogg vorbis file with id3 tags. Why does it have id3 tags?
Comment 6 Reuben Thomas 2008-10-01 06:49:17 UTC
I don't know why it has ID3 tags. Maybe grip wrote them? In any case, I believe most of my Ogg files, written in the same way, have ID3 tags, and this hasn't proven a problem in the past.
Comment 7 Jonathan Matthew 2008-10-01 23:14:59 UTC
It doesn't really matter in the end. This is just another case where we have to deal with multiple tag sets in a more intelligent manner than we currently do.
