GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 553301
Evolution asks for password on connection reset
Last modified: 2008-09-26 09:21:50 UTC
Evolution continues to ask for my password on errors unrelated to authentication, like a connection reset. I have several accounts with Gmail and I see about 10 dialogs asking for my password every day, always due to connection reset errors or connection timeouts. It would be much better if it just informed me unobtrusively (no dialog) that it can't send/receive all the email, and still remembered my password unless it gets an actual authentication error of some kind. Please let me know if any additional information would be helpful.
Created attachment 119219 [details] [review] proposed eds patch for evolution-data-server; This is what I found. The rest seems correct on the first look. What kind of provider are you using to connect to GMail? Is it POP3 or IMAP? The IMAP provider patch has been done in bug #552631
Sorry, I should have mentioned that it's IMAP. I may have seen this with POP3 in the past (I can't remember for certain), but if so, it was much less common with POP3.
