It would be cool if there was a "random" option for the slideshow, which loaded the images randomly instead of by filename.

The option could be presented in Preferences>Slideshow>Sequence as a check box.

There is a plugin available now in the eog-plugins repository as part of bug 562135. No tarball released yet though. So you would have to build it yourself:

This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but we are happy to tell you that the problem has already been fixed. It should be solved in the next software version. You may want to check for a software upgrade.
