Description Gavin Hamill 2008-09-09 21:03:28 UTC
If I double-click / drag an smb:// file to a non-gio app like Audacious, the app receives the smb:// path which it cannot use.

Is it possible to determine whether a destination app is gio-aware, and pass a /home/$USER/.gvfs/sharename on remoteserver/... path instead?

This holds true especially for file-roller when reading gigabytes of remotely stored archives - the end user should not have to use /home/$USER/.gvfs in order to unpack files.

This is a dupe of bug 528670 - which still needs to be implemented (not trivial).
