GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 548678
base currency between account hierarchy view and general ledger differ
Last modified: 2018-06-29 22:09:01 UTC
Please describe the problem: The account hierarchy page offers for columns "Present", "Balance", ... "Total" as supplement "Present [<LOCALE-Currency>]" ... while the general ledger uses Edit->Preferences->Accounts->"Default Currency". Steps to reproduce: 1. LANG=C gnucash (-> locale currency = USD) 2. File->New ... [Abort] 3. Edit->Preferences->Accounts->"Default Currency"= EUR 4. create a few accounts in different currencies e.g. EUR, USD, GBP 5. in the account hierarchy enable the columns "Present" and "Present [...]" The last shows USD. 6. open the general ledger 7. create a few converting transactions in the G/L. in 2.2.2 you watch, they are handled as beeing in default currency. in SVN the same. Actual results: Expected results: I would expect, also the account hierarchy should offer the default currency instead of the locale currency. Does this happen every time? Other information: I detected this, when I tried to verify http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=106873#c4.
The solution is really simple: Edit->Preferences->Reports->"Default Report Currency" But I would suggest, to give the user some clue, if (s)he changes the default currency. This could happen in e.g. the tooltip or a pop up like "If you change the default currency, you possible like to change the default report currency also."
