translation issues

../libempathy-gtk/empathy-account-widget-sip.glade: "Stun Server:" vs "Discover STUN" - please use constant capitalization. ../libempathy-gtk/empathy-account-widget-yahoo.glade: "J_apan server:" Don't get it, what is that? Please add a translator comment, see http://live.gnome.org/TranslationProject/DevGuidelines/Use%20comments ../megaphone/data/GNOME_Megaphone_Applet.schemas.in: "The contact's avatar token. Empty means contact has no avatar." i hate the word "token" because it is untranslatable. could it maybe be removed from the string? ../src/empathy.c: "Invalid handle" how to translate this properly? http://live.gnome.org/TranslationProject/DevGuidelines/Use%20comments ../src/empathy.c: "Contact does not support voice" Does not make sense at all in a literal sense. what do you mean? voice calls? if so, say so. ../src/empathy.c: "Lowmem" What the...? Change this, please. Even "Low memory error" isn't really helpful when not knowing the context. ../src/empathy-accounts-dialog.c:235 "To add a new account, you can click on the 'Add' button and a new entry will be created for you to start configuring." ../src/empathy-accounts-dialog.c:247 "\n" "\n" "If you do not want to add an account, simply click on the account you want to configure in the list on the left." ../src/empathy-accounts-dialog.glade.h:7 "To add a new account, you can click on the 'Add' button and a new entry will be created for you to started configuring.\n" "\n" "If you do not want to add an account, simply click on the account you want to configure in the list on the left." Please merge those strings so I don't have to translate that twice. ../src/empathy-call-window.c: "Readying" in which context? is that a state, or an action? ../src/empathy-call-window.glade "Keypad" i guess this refers to numbers only? makes a difference in translation for me. http://live.gnome.org/TranslationProject/DevGuidelines/Use%20comments "%s offered you an invitation, but you don't have the needed external application to handle it." "%s is offering you an invitation, but you don't have the needed external application to handle it." where's the difference?! ../src/empathy-preferences.glade: "Visual" Context, please! http://live.gnome.org/TranslationProject/DevGuidelines/Use%20comments
Thanks for your comments! I fixed them in my translator branch, waiting for review before merging: http://git.collabora.co.uk/?p=user/xclaesse/empathy.git;a=shortlog;h=refs/heads/translator. That's for a gconf key so I suppose you could just not translate that word? > ../src/empathy.c: > "Invalid handle" > how to translate this properly? > http://live.gnome.org/TranslationProject/DevGuidelines/Use%20comments That string shouldn't be translatable, it is displayed in debug messages only, not in the UI. Right, the text from glade is not traductable anymore. > ../src/empathy-call-window.c: > "Readying" > in which context? is that a state, or an action? I added a comment: /* To translators: Readying is the first state of the call, it is * preparing the connection and it does not yet ring. */ > ../src/empathy-call-window.glade > "Keypad" > i guess this refers to numbers only? makes a difference in translation for me. > http://live.gnome.org/TranslationProject/DevGuidelines/Use%20comments So far there is numbers [0-9], asterisk (*) and hash (#). [A-D] will be added at some point since those are standard DTMF signals. Maybe the full aplabet will be added one day like any mobile phone... I added a comment. > "%s offered you an invitation, but you don't have the needed external > application to handle it." > "%s is offering you an invitation, but you don't have the needed external > application to handle it." > where's the difference?! I merged those 2 strings. > ../src/empathy-preferences.glade: > "Visual" > Context, please! > http://live.gnome.org/TranslationProject/DevGuidelines/Use%20comments I added a comment. This is the title to group visual preferences for various notifications, like enbling libnotify bubbles, etc.
This problem has been fixed in the development version. The fix will be available in the next major software release. Thank you for your bug report.
