Description Dave Hayes 2008-06-27 18:29:33 UTC
Please describe the problem:
Banshee is using huge amounts of resources (top reports 194% CPU usage for me) apparently when playing a track that does not yet have cover art.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Play a song that has no cover art

Actual results:
The CPU usage spikes and not drop back to normal for several minutes and the UI will probably stop responding (you can see in the attached screenshot mine was frozen for at least the duration of the song).

Expected results:
Banshee would attempt to download cover art without munching all my resources.

Does this happen every time?
This does happen every time.

Also, gabaug says it's important to mention I have about 30k songs in my library, as you can see in the screenshot.

Does it happen with every track in your library that doesn't have cover art? Can you post a list of songs that do and don't work?
Comment 5 Dave Hayes 2008-07-02 15:30:15 UTC
Yes, this does happen with every track in my library that doesn't have cover art. How big of a list do you want? More importantly, I've found that disabling the Cover Art Fetching extension makes the problem not happen anymore.
Comment 6 Andrew Conkling 2008-07-03 23:09:57 UTC
That's better info than a list would be. Someone can test that to see if it's a general problem and maybe the Cover Art extension needs to be profiled.

Marking this one a duplicate, with Dave's agreement, as bug #541469 has a better description.
