GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 539759
Rhythmbox sometimes doesn't play next song with crossfading enabled
Last modified: 2008-06-23 21:39:15 UTC
Occasionally when listening to an album, the next song won't start after the previous one is finished. If I press play, it will show it's playing the next song up top even though nothing is playing, the window title shows the next song, but says it's paused, and the playlist shows the previous song is paused. Pressing play again does nothing, and the only way to get the next song to play again is to double click it in the playlist. This only happens when crossfading is enabled. Attached is a screenshot of the player stalled at the end of a song and one of what happens when I press play. Note that it shows the previous song is still playing even though it has reached the end. Also attached is the debug output. I apologize for the huge file; I just ran the program until the bug happened. I can't consistently reproduce this, but it usually happens at least once within an hour or two of use. I'm using version 0.11.5 with 64-bit Ubuntu Hardy.

I've run into the same bug. With crossfading on, specific songs cause this problem consistently. I believe they may all be Ogg Vorbis, but I'm not 100% sure. (That could be irrelevant, but most of my music is Ogg.) I'm also running on Ubuntu Hardy.
All of my music is in FLAC, and almost all of it was ripped with Sound Juicer.
