Description joe7256 2008-06-13 18:29:45 UTC
Please describe the problem:
cat /dev/urandom for example prints a 'lot' of characters. it seems, that some of them mix up the character encoding. even when you stop the cat process the prompt looks something like this "␍⎺␍⎺␍⎺├␤@␌▒├␊⎼⎻␋┌┌▒⎼:·/⎽├┤␍␋┤└/␊⎻⎼⎺±/⎽├┤°°$
" instead of "dododoth@caterpillar:~/studium/eprog/stuff$".

Steps to reproduce:
1. open gnome-terminal
2. execute "cat /dev/urandom"
3. stop "cat /dev/urandom" after several seconds

Actual results:
it seems that the character encoding gets mixed up

Expected results:
that after stopping the process e.g. "ctrl-c" that the character encoding is normal

Does this happen every time?
yes

Other information:
i don't think this bug appears on 64-bit systems
