GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 533955
Line numbers for script-fu errors
Last modified: 2008-10-30 20:13:21 UTC
Back in GIMP 2.2 I wrote a small script to take a "dissolve" mode layer and convert it to Normal blending mode (e.g: add a transparent layer beneath it and merge down). Now that I've installed 2.4 I am receiving a script-fu error message when trying to use it, and since I have not worked on my script in some time I don't know where to start looking for that error. But my real question is this: If/when GIMP encounters a script error, can it please include the line number (from the script file) where the exact error occured? (If I have missed or overlooked anything obvious please let me know.) Other information:
PS: The error in my script turned out to be simple (forgot to use car() on the result of a function call). Still, if this had been a long and complicated script, it might have taken serious time to comb over the code and locate the error.
If you are having trouble with debugging a scripts, you should ask for help on IRC or the mailing lists. There is already an open bug report about line numbers for errors in Script-Fu. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 497913 ***
