Description Jef Driesen 2008-05-19 08:22:40 UTC
Currently, gthumb write metadata (comments, keywords, etc) to a separate xml file AND embedded in the image file itself. Embedding the metadata should be made configurable (like f-spot does), for people like me, who want to keep the original image unmodified.

I'm not particularly happy with the comment/keyword and embedded metadata syncing in the trunk. Feel free to play with it.

In 2.11.x, I think this is configurable now. The "comments" extension ("Comments and tags") has a sync option.

However with the option set, gthumb doesn't seem to write to the file,
as I cannot see my modified metatdata in EOG or gimp.

no it's not, the embedded metadata is always updated. The option you mention is relative to the xml comment file only.

This problem has been fixed in the development version. The fix will be available in the next major software release. Thank you for your bug report.
