Description sam tygier 2008-05-08 11:14:37 UTC
I have a laptop and a desktop. the laptop can ssh to the desktop. both have ubuntu hardy installed, the laptop has conduit 0.3.10 from https://launchpad.net/~conduit/+archive

On each machine i make a folder called conduit-test.
On the laptop i use nautilus (2.22.2) 'connect to server', i choose the ssh option, i put in the desktops hostname, the path to the desktop's conduit-test folder, and choose to make a bookmark called desktop-conduit.
In conduit on the laptop, i create a folder to folder sync.
I set the left on to point to the laptops local conduit-test folder, i set the right to the mounted ssh folder (it is in the drop down list, because it is a book mark). I name the lefthand side 'local-conduit' and the righthand 'desktop-condiut'.
I set it to 2 way sync.

now i put some files into conduit-test on the desktop. i can see them in nautilus on the mounted ssh folder.

now i tell conduit on the laptop to do a 2 way sync.

I expect the files in the desktop's conduit-test folder to now be in the laptops conduit-test folder.

instead, the laptops conduit-test folder now has a folder called 'desktop-conduit' inside this are the files from the desktop.

now i add a file to the conduit-test folder on the laptop

I run a 2way sync again. now the desktop conduit folder has the original files, plus a folder called 'local-conduit', in this is a folder called 'desktop-conduit' and in this are the original files.

This all seems to be a confusing mess to me.

The name must be the same, yes its confusing, and it will go away in future, but its not strictly a bug....

i just noticed that it is the same for local files.

wow, super quick reply, thanks. i have set the names of each end of the sync in the conduit window to be the same, and now it works as i expect.

i think that either it should work whatever the names are, or it should not be possible to set the names to be different. is there a need to have those names at all? maybe just one name is needed for the whole sync.

This problem has been fixed in the development version. The fix will be available in the next major software release. Thank you for your bug report.
