GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 527840
no directories are created on mtp devices
Last modified: 2009-09-01 11:59:43 UTC
Instead of recreating a Music/artist/album directory structure on mtp devices all music is just thrown in the Music directory. The existance of a directory structure where an album has its own subdirectory seems to be essential to support album art at least on the Creative ZenV. Probably on others, too. gtkam is very useful as a mtp browser to do fast testing.
This would be very helpfull...
Exaile has a patched version of it's MTP plugin, that does the work (https://bugs.launchpad.net/exaile/+bug/136061), but I'd like to see this feature in rhythmbox...
It would be nice to have ths feature. I've read in some place about creating a .is_audio_player file. But it only sets the folder which the music must be copied to. My device (Sony NWZ-S616f) already sets the right folder. So, I don't need to create the file. The problem is that the music files are copied directly to the /music folder. It would be easyer to manage the files if you could create folders to organize them album. The album cover issue seens to be unrelated. I've used tested using mtp with Amarok, and even putting all files in the same dir, the album cover is displayed. Amarok also has an initial support for creating folders based on atist+album name, but it still has some flaws. However, maybe seeing how it is done it may be useful to improve the use of mtp in Rhythmbox. I must emphasize that for my device the album cover is the only reason for using mtp, since It can be mounted as a vfat fs, allowing to copy the files directly to the device. Sorry if I've been to long.:-) Thanks in advance!
Please add this option, because browsing (loading) mtp directory even with 100 files is hard, and when you try to do this with 800+....
