Description Peter Conlon 2008-04-03 21:05:03 UTC
Please describe the problem:
On a Debian "testing" distro using GNOME 2.22 on PIII machine with few extra features installed, ie. simple gnome environment:
On shutdown, when the graphics disappears, and the shutdown text starts appearing, the is a line:

gdm[2943]:segfault at 10e6e560 eip b77c8465 esp bf868580 error 4

where the numbers are slightly different each time, although it always says error 4.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Turn on computer and logon.
2. Click system->shutdown and shutdown.
3. Watch terminal text for gdm:segfault line

Actual results:
as described

Expected results:
I would hope that GDM doesn't segfault

Does this happen every time?
yes

Other information:
It doesn't seem to affect usability, since I only notice it during shutdown. Its a bit worrying though. I upgraded to Debian "testing" from Debian "etch" so that I could use GNOME 2.22 a few days ago, which was when the problem started.

I suspect this is the same bug as #517526, though you don't provide a stack trace of where it is segfaulting. If you find this is a different segfault issue, please reopen with more information.
