Description Rich Burridge 2008-03-31 21:25:13 UTC
Steps to reproduce.

1/ Start Orca
2/ Start Evolution
3/ Navigate to the message header list.
4/ Press Insert-F11 to speak table cells "by cell" rather than "by row".
5/ Move Left or Right on a message header.

Orca speaks "not selected" after each movement.

Orca debug log to be attached.

Orca debug log generated whilst testing this problem.

If you look at line 800, you'll see a "focus:" event:

OBJECT EVENT: focus: detail=(0,0)
app.name='evolution' name='Wii for surgeons' role='table cell' state='enabled focusable focused selectable sensitive showing transient visible' relations=''

This is telling us that that table cell is not selected, whereas
visually it appears it is (it's got a blue background).

We'll need to see if we can work around this.

Mike, I presume as the Evolution message header list is read-only,
the desired behavior here is to not speak the selected state (or
not) of the individual table cells, correct?

Rich, is this a duplicate of bug 523235?

Yes it is. Thanks Joanie.

Mike, we really need you to comment on bug #523235
so that a fix can be checked in (there are two potential
patches there).

Thanks.
