When attempting to choose an input method for Text Input when typing in what text will appear in the new text layer. The GIMP will crash after a few moments or after you press OK or the "X" button. I'm assuming the compatibility for Text Input is not supported. Examples include Amharic, Windows IME.

This has nothing to do with input methods. It's a bug in GTK+ related to the popup window.
