Description Colin Macdonald 2008-03-02 21:53:32 UTC
I'm using NetworkManager 0.6.5.98 on Gentoo with kernel 2.6.23.9 and a patched rtl8180 driver (from Redhat I think).

While I'm connected to a wifi network, NetworkManager periodically does something (scanning for networks?) that causes my connection to pause for 2-3 seconds. This is most annoying for ssh or vnc connections.

This does not occur if I manually bring up my card without using NM. I suspect that my card (or driver) has a lot of latency on the scanning operation.

Whatever it is that NM does periodically, I should be able to disable it so as to avoid these pauses. This is possibly a duplicate of bug #513820.
