Description Michael Monreal 2008-02-25 15:54:50 UTC
The new message tray icon currently still uses the old placeholder icon. This icon, apart from looking old (no tango look) shows the action of moving directories. It is, however, also shown for copying files or emptying the trash for example.

I have thought for some time now what this icon should look like and in the end I think the existing "system-file-manager" icon would work best. It's very generic but connected to nautilus.

Its sure better than the current one, so i'm commiting this patch. However, I think we could do even better. The icon should really represent that an active file operation is happening, not just that the window belongs to the file manager.

Agreed... but, I already asked on #tango and noone seemed to have a very good idea :/

While not yet in gnome-icon-theme, the fd.o naming spec defines a "sync-synchronizing" named icon.

And copy, move, trash, delete are all actions to syncronize the filesystem status to your will.... ;-)

Ugh... I think you bend the metaphor a bit too much here ;)

I think improvements here would be doing better with the transfers in the first place. Going to mark this as fixed.
