GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 516265
Keyboard shortcut: Space should act as play/pause when not in search field
Last modified: 2018-05-24 13:10:34 UTC
The space bar should act as a play/pause button. Currently Ctrl-Space acts as a play/pause button. By normal convension Space should act as a play/pause button. Pressing Space now just starts playing the current track from the beginning. That is, it restarts playing the track. Other information:
The space bar only restarts the current track when the track list widget has focus. This is a gtk+ thing, and I'm not sure we can (or should) override it. We can't make the space bar an app-wide shortcut for 'play', as you need to be able to type spaces in the search bar and other locations.
space bar should pause and not restart the song, enter does already that.
If it's a gtk+ thing, then should a bug be filed somewhere else about this? It's a bit of an annoying misfeature.
