GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 514333
'world clock applet' and 'weather report applet' show different temperatures
Last modified: 2008-04-07 19:25:30 UTC
The bug has been opened on https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/188183 "I have hardy updated to now. I've noticed that 'world clock applet' and 'weather report applet' show different temperatures... I think that 'world clock applet' shows the 'feels like' temperature instead of the real temperature... look at the attachment... thank you http://launchpadlibrarian.net/11718931/Screenshot.png screenshot of the problem... I can confirm this. The new world clock applet which comes by default in Hardy displays two different temperatures when "show weather" option is used. The temperature shown on the panel is always different than the temperature shown in the tulip in the extended view (please see linked photo). Judging from weather.com for the same location, the temperature shown on the panel is more up-to-date. My location is Kennedy Airport, America/New York . The original reporter seems to be on to some thing with the feels like temp theory. Weather.com currently has my temp at 40F and feels like temp at 31F. The world clock applet has 41F on the panel and 31.9F on the tulip.
Adding both the weather and clock applets, I can see that the clock weather entry shows the actual temperature in the panel and 'feels like' in the tooltip. However, this is not specified. A simple fix would be adding "Feels like: X degrees" instead of just "X degrees" on the tooltip

Sure, the main issues is that this mysterious second temperature value should be labelled so the users knows what it actually is.
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but we are happy to tell you that the problem has already been fixed. It should be solved in the next software version. You may want to check for a software upgrade. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 526171 ***
