Description Wouter van Marle 2008-01-30 03:35:30 UTC
Invoices can be posted to a place-holder account. This should of course not be possible. A place-holder account should not be selectable when posting an invoice in the first place.

Why the heck do you have a placeholder A/R account!?! Just make it an Asset and get on with life! ;)
Comment 2 Wouter van Marle 2008-01-30 04:16:42 UTC
@Derek: this happened historically. I used to have one A/R account. Then later my business changed a bit and I had to split it up, mostly because of the need to post invoices in various currencies, and to keep other things separate. The parent still has invoices posted to it, and was after the change to version 2 made into a "place holder" account.
And remember, don't question your users, we are more creative in doing things (unintended) with your software than you can ever imagine :) There is a reason for almost anything.
Comment 3 Derek Atkins 2008-01-30 04:21:48 UTC
I always question my users. Just because a user wants to do something doesn't mean they should. For example, if a user wanted to spam 1,000,000 people should I give them the ability to do so?

Just make a new parent account, type Asset. Make it the placeholder. Move the existing A/R under it.

There's no need to ever, and I mean EVER, have a placeholder account of type A/R.

Anyway, I added a safety check to dialog-date-close.c in r17154 on trunk.
Awaiting backport to branches/2.2 for inclusion in GnuCash 2.2.6.

Backported to branches/2.2 in r17269 by cstim for GnuCash 2.2.6.
