It would be nice to be able to display just the fullname in the from field to conserve screen real estate. Similarly an abbreviated date field format would be nice.

you can set the LC_TIME format yourself except for the "Yesterday"/"Today" strings (there is already a bug report about that).

The Fullname display is a duplicate of bug 225392.
