GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 511714
Program fails when joining a channel
Last modified: 2009-09-11 16:14:47 UTC
When I start XChat-GNOME IRC Chat and join a server the program seems okay. This is far as I can go. If I attempt to join a room or click on anything other than the menu bar the program will freeze and then will crash. The latest crash generated this report: http://crash.gnome.org/report/index/eb330f82-ca29-11dc-a2ae-0007e9333148?date=2008-01-24-03
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. Without a stack trace from the crash it's very hard to determine what caused it. Can you get us a stack trace? Please see http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces for more information on how to do so. Thanks in advance!

Hello I was unable to crash xchat-gnome with the steps provided. Would it be possible for you to provide step-by-step detailed information on the same. I am using xchat-gnome-0.18-5.fc8 gtk2-2.12.5-1.fc8
Not sure I can go into more detail. After I log into a server I cannot join a room (via the popup or via the command line) nor can I click anything other than the menu without the program crashing.
not too sure, does removing the .xchat-gnome folder help ? $ mv .xchat-gnome xchat-gnome.backup $ xchat-gnome
Yes it does solve the problem!
how was the configuration file generated ?
I didn't change anything from when it was installed. Using Fedora 8 and used YUM to install.
Would it be possible for you to attach xchat-gnome configuration file. Something odd about it autojoin = (gchar **) 0x91fd658 channels = (gchar **) 0x0 <--- looks funny found = <value optimized out>
Created attachment 104708 [details] Bad(?) conf file.
I am unable to reproduce this with the latest version of xchat-gnome. Would you please confirm the same ?
Yeah, all seems well, now. I had forgotten about this ticket!
