Last modified: 2008-01-25 09:42:25 UTC
Please describe the problem: hi, after installing opensuse 10.3 ppc on my ibook g3 i got no sound. after running alsaconf and saving new configs. and trying to test i get this error... "audiotestsrc wave=sine freq=512 ! audioconvert ! audioresample ! gconfaudiosink: Internal GStreamer error: state change failed. Please file a bug at http://bugzilla.gnome.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=GStreamer." Steps to reproduce: 1. install opensuse 10.3 on apple ibook g3 600mhz 256mb ram 2. run alsaconf 3. try to test sound using Sound Events Sound Preferences Playback Test. Actual results: i get the dialog i pasted into problem description Expected results: i expect to get a test sound from the soundcard Does this happen every time? yes Other information: the sound does not seem to work with the opensuse 10.3 under a standard dvd iso install on the apple g3 ibook and the trouble seems to center around GStreamer thank you, -alonzo
this was from an opensuse 10.3 ppc dvd iso install.
It's a configuration issue. Try different settings in System => Preferences => Sound. You might need to install esd/esound or pulseaudio (no idea about opensuse). The main GStreamer bug is the broken error message (ie. it doesn't show you the real error message). *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 471364 ***
