Description Jo-Erlend Schinstad 2008-01-16 11:59:25 UTC
Please describe the problem:
The preview of a memo is blanked every minute. While you're reading a memo, or journal entry in my case, what you're reading suddenly goes away. You have to reselect it in the memo list, but then you also have to scroll back to where you were. This happens at the same second every minute, causing me to believe it's related to a timer that fires every 60th second. I've tried it with no email, calendars or anything configured and it still happens. This does not happen in any other view, such as tasks, email or calendar. Only in the memo view.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a memo with a subject and some text in the body
2. Save it and select the memo from the list
3. Wait and observe that it suddenly disappears. Note the second of the minute.
4. Repeat, and notice how it happens at the same second next minute.

Actual results:
The memo vanishes from the preview.

Expected results:
Nothing.

Does this happen every time?
Yes.

Other information:
This bug also exists in Evolution 2.12.1

for evolution;

I guess we can simply drop the code from memos, it does nothing special, instead of tasks.
Comment 3 Srinivasa Ragavan 2008-01-17 08:31:12 UTC
Why was it like this? I never used memos.
Commit to trunk.
Comment 4 André Klapper 2008-01-17 09:36:59 UTC
why? wild guess: code copied from tasks, repaint/resort when deleted, code fixed in tasks, code not fixed in memo. not sure though :)
Comment 5 Milan Crha 2008-01-17 10:01:34 UTC
Committed to trunk. Committed revision 34844.

I guess something like Andre said. Tasks can be completed, and we have option to hide completed tasks, but in memos that's a bit different, not reflected in code.
Comment 6 Jo-Erlend Schinstad 2008-11-16 03:19:22 UTC
This bug is not completely fixed. Well, actually it is, but there is another, very similar bug with a symptom so similar to the one mentioned in the original post, I felt it would be better to add a comment:

In the task preview, the preview scrolls to the top every minute. This is ok for most tasks because the description isn't too long anyway, but when it is, it's annoying to have to scroll back down. In other words, no biggie, but then it should also be easily fixed.

I keep finding these small, insignificant bugs that nobody else cares about or even notices. Perhaps my mind works differently :)
Comment 7 Jo-Erlend Schinstad 2008-11-16 03:30:44 UTC
Oh, btw, this does not apply to memos.
Comment 8 André Klapper 2008-11-17 00:00:20 UTC
Can't reproduce in 2.22.3.1.
Can you file a new ticket and give exact steps and your distro and version?

Woops. I forgot to mention the distro. It's Ubuntu 8.10.
