GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 50933
GtkRange should display a marker showing the original position of the slider while dragging

It would be nice if GtkRange widgets could display a marker showing the original position of the slider while dragging? The original position would have a greyed out and lighter marker, or whatever the UI experts consider right.
(Putting it on the 2.0.0 milestone for the moment, though my guess is that it won't make it for 2.0.0 if we want to do this.) One possible alternative is the Windows/Mac idea of cancellation - if you drag too far from the range/scrollbar, the thumb snaps back. I find it a bit annoying, but it is a faster than having to to align with a ghost image, and fairly standard.
#58389 has a patch for Owens alternative proposal.
