GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 508192
Text chopped off in most Gtk dialogs when text is RTL
Last modified: 2008-10-03 05:54:27 UTC
Dialogs: Warnings, Errors, etc always contain chopped off text when the text is of an RTL language like Arabic. I will attach a test case, and a screenshot. This affects a wide range of applications as you can imagine.

Created attachment 102433 [details] View, Note the chopped text on the right. It doesn't matter whether the locale was RTL or LTR. RTL text is always chopped.
Humm, weird. I have guesses for the case that it was a one pixel off. But not for this.
Created attachment 102498 [details] Another instance. This is another instance of this. It appears to me that his behaviour happens when text shares space with an image.
Any idea why this happens? This is really, really ugly on RTL systems. I see it on an hour basic on GTK dialogs.
I can't reproduce this using your test case btw.
I can't reproduce it too, though I'm sure I'd encountered it before, so I think this bug is fixed by now.
