GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 503008
Indicate in message preview if sender is in addressbook
Last modified: 2012-06-16 11:06:33 UTC
OpenSUSE 10.3 bug in bnc https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=347140 Currently, it takes three steps when adding an address from an existing mail into the addressbook before finding out the entry already exists. 1. Open the email 2. Right click on address and select "Add to Address Book" 3. Click "OK" in the new "Quick-Add" dialog box. A new dialog box appears that tells you "Duplicate Contact Detected." Time wasted. Plugin Enhancement suggestion: In the folder view of Evolution, plugin can color-code the "From" column of all addresses that already exist in the Evolution Address Book. This can save time if you have a large number of emails and you want to determine which ones need to have email addresses added to the address book. Especially useful if you are in a customer service situation and want to make sure you have recorded every customer email address in the address book. Just scan the "From" column, and any non-color-coded address indicates it is not in the address book. Also, especially useful if you have set up a new machine with an empty address book, and you imap your email account and can quickly determine what addresses to add to your new machine.
I guess it has a duplicate already.
yes, it has. but as long as akhil does not search for them, i'm also unwilling to do this. and sankar, please stop polluting the whiteboard. use proper namespaces. thanks.
Right. Shall do that. Never used the whiteboard previously though that shouldn't be an excuse.
@Andre : Do you really feel that i file bugs without searching for duplicates ? If yes, can you please suggest me stuffs to search in better ways (apart from whiteboard and keyword because i tried many times with no success) I always search for duplicates and i file the bug only when i couldn't find the appropriate bug. I accept that it could be possible sometime i miss the duplicate bug(not an easy task to search in 3500+ bugs). Anyways are you pointing out https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=473962 ?
@akhil: hmm, okay, let's see how i would approach this... i remember there was a keyword for bugs that deal with both addressbook and mail. so i go to http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=302635#c14 , and then search the evolution bugs for whiteboard entry "evolution[addr_mail]". the second one is bug 203062, and i think this is the one we are searching for. @psankar: i was a bit harsh, sorry. the list of available *evolution* whiteboard entries is at http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=302635#c14 , you can of course also add new ones to organize your work (i for example use several entries like "aklapper[blabla]" to find things easier).
Bumping version to a stable release.
