Description André Klapper 2007-12-08 21:48:10 UTC
evolution has had a crash recovery for years: when it crashes, it recovers the unsaved composer windows after restart.
"crash recovery" means: to recover the state that an application had before it crashed. in firefox, it reopens all the pages that i had opened before it crashed.

evolution's new "crash recovery" is not a crash recovery. instead, it hides the preview pane. that has nothing to do with recovery. please change any user-visible strings, otherwise it will be more than confusing to the user and weaken the term.

Any suggestions?
Comment 2 André Klapper 2007-12-09 11:18:57 UTC
unfortunately not. this discussion came up when reviewing the german translation, but we also did not find a good word for it.
Comment 3 Tobias Mueller 2007-12-10 02:10:53 UTC
In english maybe "crash awareness". For german maybe "absturzsensitiv"...
Comment 4 Srinivasa Ragavan 2007-12-10 06:58:09 UTC
May be "Crash handler" ? Sigh, Im really poor in this.
Comment 5 André Klapper 2008-01-18 01:18:13 UTC
srini: ping
(we had a talk about this on irc and had a better term (it was not "recrash avoidance"), but unfortunately i don't have a log (wasn't sitting in front of *my* computer).
Comment 6 Srinivasa Ragavan 2008-01-18 05:39:30 UTC
Andre, it was "Crash Detection" which You and Guenther were fine. (I'm yet to push that)
Comment 7 Matthew Barnes 2008-03-03 12:46:29 UTC
Let's move this to bug #508732 and continue the discussion there. I have some other suggestions for improving the dialog there.
