Description Jul 2007-10-24 11:42:06 UTC
I would love to use f-spot to export pictures to http://commons.wikimedia.org, the free media repository from the Wikimedia foundation, providing Wikipedia and others with illustrations.

An API is available at http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/API:Edit_-_Uploading_files

Ideally, one should be able to set up the Commons account which provides an author name (linking to the contributor's page with [[User:Author Name|Author Name]]) and choose a default license.

Then, on export, a prompt should offer to edit or confirm:
-the XMP description (entered as a comment in f-spot for the picture)
-the source (default could be "Own work")
-the exif date of the picture
-and if possible, XMP data and/or tags that could be converted as categories for Commons (enclosed in [[Category:]]).

This would allow to keep information in the files and save time for contributors. I guess this should be done in an export plugin, but lack the skills to code it.

Thanks!

F-Spot has moved to https://github.com/f-spot/f-spot/issues

If this Bugzilla ticket is still valid in a recent version of F-Spot, please feel free to post this topic as a ticket in the F-Spot project on GitHub.

Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping as we are planning to shut down GNOME Bugzilla in favor of GNOME Gitlab.
